the good, the bad and the ugly

The Good: The school announced that we'll have 12 month's salary instead of 11.

The Bad: We'll have the 12 months salary IF we'll be in school before 7:30 and will go home by 5:00 pm. Last time we should be in school before 8:30 am and go home by 3:30 pm. How could I blog with this new time schedule.

The Ugly: The kindergarten teachers are now required to make grades. I only meet my learners once a week, Thai names are hard to memorize and I will make grades to about 1,000 learners!

Minority Report

Tuesday Couch Potatoes' topic this week is about movies based on books. I choose a movie based on a Philip K. Dick short story, Minority Report. The story is is about a cop in the future working in a division of the police department that arrests killers before they commit the crimes courtesy of some future viewing technology. John Anderton has the tables turned on him when he is accused of a future crime and must find out what brought it about and stop it before it can happen.

This movie is a perfect blend of action, suspense and thrills . The plot is intelligent and fresh. Tom Cruise is fantastic, Colin Farrell is amazing, as well as Samantha Morton. Spielberg again proves that he is the master of cinema. A truly great director. I'll agree, the ending was a little too happy, but not worth complaining about. This film is simply a entertaining and yet realistic glimpse of what our future may look like, as advertising becomes more advanced and intrusive. The film creates many moral questions and issues, and should leave you thinking. Is being arrested for doing something you actually haven't committed yet fair? It is worth seeing again and again. I can say it is one amazing movie.

Rain water

We collected rain water to water our plants, wash our dishes and even for bath! This is what we've been doing every time it rains because until now Hatyai Water District (HWD) doesn't take any necessary action to give us WATER! (You can read my frustrations here and here )

Last week my patience was already on its last straw. Never in my life have I gone so pissed ! It's over 3 months now that we've waited for that WATER but until now we remain "WATER-LESS"! Everyday we called the owner asking him to follow-up HWD (because if you won't follow-up him, he doesn't do a thing too!). Actually, a group of working men with pipes and drills came last April 21 and I thought that my terrible dilemma will end that day. Much to my dismay without any valid reasons they left without doing anything! I was really furious!

I called again the owner of the house and told him that we'll move ! He asked his friend who could speak English to explain to us that he already went to the HWD officer, doing the follow-up everyday, paid the required fees and many other stuffs . He's trying to explain that the DELAY is not his fault but the HWD. They better give us WATER this week or else we'll really move though it means hassle because class already started. If I''m not online for weeks and months then you'll know WHY.

No water is giving me MIGRAINE!

Oh, this is my life in Thailand...Help me God to be PATIENT in this trying moment!
