The heat is killing me!

This week after dancing, leaping, singing and almost doing cartwheel in the class I experienced excessive sweating, nausea, uber tiredness, headache, muscle cramps and I felt llike I couldn't breath and like going to faint! Oh no, I experienced heat exhaustion due to the temperature across the country hitting 40 degree Celsius!

Fortunately, heat exhaustion rarely causes serious problems and can be treated relatively easily. What did I do? I just rest in a cool place. I went to the school's office which was just air-conditioned. I sip cold water. It's ideal to sip drinks especially designed for rehydration (e.g., electrolyte replacement sports drinks). They're useful because they contain a good balance of different salts. Fortunately on that day I bought extra blouse and towel. I took a bath and this helps me felt better .

I shared what happened to my hubby and he told me to be extra careful cause what I experienced may lead to heatstroke ! The Public Health Ministry of Thailand issued a warning advising people to stay indoors and avoid getting a heat stroke - a life threatening condition that claimed seven lives over the past two years. We need to do the following:

• Stay in the shade as much as possible
• Drink lots of cool drinks
• Avoid alcohol or caffeine which are dehydrating
• Take it easy on hot days - don't overexert yourself ( a reminder to myself )
  

House project 101

After 5 long months of waiting, we finally got our water! It means moving is not an option anymore and we'll stay in this house as long as we want. It's time to unpack things and proceed to our plans and desire to beautify the house and purchase the things we need one at a time. First we need to buy a Dining Room Furniture specifically a dining table. How I love to host a casual Sunday family dinners! We opt not to buy the expensive one because we'll not stay long here in Thailand. We're scouting for something cheaper but durable. We've seen dining room furniture near our residence and we plan to buy the dining table with dining chairs for only 5,000 baht. It looks like one below:

If I'm not mistaken, the table's dimension is 36″-54″W 54″D 36″H and it's made of wood. The photo above shows almost the same feature minus the intricate wood carvings on the legs. It's easy to clean durable finish.

Next, we'll purchase a portable sink in our kitchen area (most Thai apartments don't have sink in their kitchen area ) My hubby who is also our handyman promised to install sink in our kitchen and cabinets. I'm excited for that improvement in out kitchen area. I will be more motivated to cook and try new dishes everyday.

Our bedroom needs some floor mats and curtains. I'm excited to do some makeover of our bedroom. I just hope that the landlord will put screen in our windows as soon as possible because mosquitoes are attacking us!

What else? We'll buy new refrigerator next month so our old one will be given away. Do you want it? Then you can have it if you want. Just pick it up in our house by the end of this month.

I just hope a month from now we can have our new dining furniture, bedroom makeover as well as the kitchen makeover! I can't wait!

Here's my first entry:

It's my first year in Thailand and I taught at Mahapanya Vidayalai where I taught English to "Samanen" (monk novice). I missed these students. They were good and respected me so much and I missed the food they brought to me everyday.

It's raining "birthdays"!

Yesterday was my hubby's 30th birthday, my sister Zereth's 11th birthday today and my mom's 51st birthday tomorrow! It's indeed raining "birthdays" this month of JUNE for our clan.

My hands are so full since our class started this month that I don't even managed to greet my hubby in blogosphere. If last year we're able to organize a surprise birthday party for my hubby with my friends, this year is different. My hubby just wanted to spend his natal day in a very simple way with me and Hyzyd. We dined in Black Canyon Coffee with salmon steak and Black Canyon's Special beef Steak. Day before his birthday, my hubby already warned me not to spend lavishly for his birthday especially that we're still on tight budget, we're saving for our "visit Philippines" project and I'm on diet (LOL!). I thought his birthday could be my way out to eat all I can! I was wrong! It seems that it's my hubby who's more determined to see me on my old slim and sleek figure than me.LOL! Anyway, I'm grateful for that. I'm hoping to see a slimmer version of me in the near future.

My gift for him? The unique gifts I've been planning to buy for him is not materialized yet but I will as soon as I get hold of our budget*grin* coz as what 'mama Mia" commented, I should buy those to make the both of us happier...LOL! I will let him choose his gift tonight if we're not tired. We'll visit Diana Mall. It's better to let him choose his gift so that he'll be more satisfied and contented with my gift to him.

As for my sister, I ordered a coin purse for her with her photos and my birthday greetings for her but my order doesn't arrived yet. I plan to order online a Greenwich meal package for my mom's birthday but I'm late already. I should order this 10 days before her birthday...tsk...tsk...so I don't have other choice but just to send the money intended for her birthday. It's what I did eversince but this year I plan to make some changes and surprises but I'm late for that so I'll make it up to her next year. I'll just send over mail the customized cosmetic bag I ordered for her.

It's my prayer that the birthday celebrants will always be happy not only on their special day but all the days of their life. They may always be loaded with God's blessings in every aspect of their lives.
