To dance or to eat salsa?

What comes into your mind when we talk about "salsa"? At first I'll think about the dance for Salsa music created by Spanish-speaking people from the Caribbean.

Little did I know that salsa simply means "sauce" and in Mexican terms firey and tomatoey with plenty of fresh chilies, onion, cilantro, garlic and salt. Always a blend of chopped, diced or grated fruit and vegetables, along with fresh herbs and spices.

Talking about "salsa", it's not only used to accompany Mexican foods but you can create incredibly healthy low-fat meals just by combining these salsas with your favorite fish, chicken, grains or vegetables. This sounds interesting and tempting especially when I saw the simple Texas salsa recipe which claimed to be the "the most delicious salsa that doesn't require any cooking!"I just wonder where could I find Jalapeno Olives or Jalapeno Relish in Hatyai?

Why I'm interested with salsa? I've read that salsas taste good (just like hot sauce) and they are good for you. Capsaicin, what makes chilies and the sauces and salsas that contain them hot, carry a bunch of benefits.

First off, you can improve digestion by eating them. The spiciness in a hot
sauce or a salsa stimulates stomach secretions. Sure, the old wive's tale says that ulcer sufferers should avoid spicy foods, but it turns out that eating hot stuff stimulates blood flow to the stomach and increases its mucous lining. That may help heal ulcers.

Hot sauces can even battle depression. That's because every time you eat something hot, you release endorphins and endorphins are the natural "happy drug" that your body produces. Endorphins resemble opiates in how they work. They relieve pain and promote a sense of well being. They're often called "natural pain killers" or "the runner's natural high."

No wonder that Thailand is known as the "Land of Smiles" because they love hot sauces and food and I'm glad to be part of that

Happy Birthday Ate Love!

I wanna greet Ate Lalaine "Love" of Lalaine's World a happy, happy and a prosperous birthday! I thank God for knowing you Ate and Kuya Jesu. You have blessed me so much with your prayers, your righteous lives and investments to our family especially to baby Hyzyd. You just don't know how much those things mean so much to us. It is a gift sent by Heaven through you.

May this day and all your days be filled with the wonder of God’s special love for you Ate Lalaine "Love" . I pray for your happiness, of course, but also for a greater sense of fulfillment in work, an ease of communication with those you love, and a sense of satisfaction in all that you have accomplished. Above all, may you rest secure in the knowledge of God's constant love and care for you, personally. I pray for smiles and love, for friends that are true. I pray for sunshine, for warmth and tenderness. I pray for unexpected moments of joy and laughter. But most of all, I pray for peace for you.

I am thinking of you on your birthday and holding you close to my heart. My prayer for you this day and everyday is for a sense of fulfillment ... for a feeling of closeness to those you love ... for confidence and enjoyment in all that makes you special to others ... and for a deep and abiding peace within.

May God keep you in touch with all that you are and all that you are meant to become. We're so glad of how God takes care of you. See you soon.

Light a candle for Corazon Aquino

I'm tagged by Hazel of Delineating Des to light a candle in loving memory of former Philippine President Corazon C. Aquino, a widow who toppled a dictator to become the first female president in Asia and inspire People Power, the "revolution that surprised the world." To my Filipino blogger friends, grab the image below, add your prayer for Mrs. Aquino and link up.

LIGHT A CANDLE FOR CORAZON AQUINO

1. Bits & Pieces - Thank you Lord for giving President Aquino
the gift of life. It was a well-lived life as she
touched nations all over the world.
It must have been difficult for her
especially the last months of her life.
But everything is well now as she joins you.
May her family find comfort knowing that
she is now safe in your kingdom.

2. Kero's Celebration - Our gratitude to you, Lord for sharing with the Filipino people, one of your miracles on earth. May the courageous life of President Aquino continue to inspire women all over the world.

3. Delineating Des - Thank you Heavenly Father for Corazon Aquino. May we always remember the lessons we learned from her life.

4. Her and History- Father God, thank you for the life of Mrs. Corazon Aquino. She blessed us all with her courage to stand for what is right. Though we lost one of our nation's treasure, may her outstanding legacy may not be lost in the minds and hearts of the Filipino especially the Filipino women.
