Justice at any cost!

I'm pro-life but watching Law-Abiding Citizen where Clyde’s (Gerard Butler) wife who was molested and brutally murdered before his eyes as well as his young daughter by one of the two leering psychopaths who break into his home, I'm gritting my teeth and wanted that psychopath be died in an instance!

I'm against the decision of the district attorney Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx) who cuts a plea bargain with the other in order to guarantee that at least one of the perpetrators gets the death sentence without consulting Clyde! The one who murdered the wife and the child is the one who was chosen to only serve five years and it's really frustrating!!!! and this is where the story starts.

Cut to 10 years later – Nick now has a 9 year old daughter and the death row inmate is about to be executed. What should be a standard death by injection goes horribly wrong in a scene that will probably have you cringing in your seat at least a little. Soon after the bad guy who only served five years gets put in a compromising position by Clyde – and he is going to have a very, very bad (last) day.

One thing leads to another and Nick determines that Clyde is the guy behind both deaths. In a scene that frankly makes no sense other than to show Gerard Butler’s naked butt, the cops capture him and take him in. It soon becomes clear that Clyde wanted more than revenge – he wants to expose the corrupt justice system where compromises are made and the letter of the law sometimes leads to injustice.

Murders of those involved in the plea deal continue to take place even with Clyde behind bars, where he makes a series of odd and interesting requests – all of which turn out to be made for very specific reasons. Of course the big mystery is how these things continue to happen despite the fact Clyde is behind bars – who is his accomplice? Unfortunately the longer this goes on, the bigger the shovel that is needed to dig out the answer to this question, and the solution is hard to swallow.

Gerard Butler basically chews the scenery and Jamie Foxx isn’t given a whole lot to do here other than look and act solemn.

The movie is very violent, at times quite funny (Gerard gets some great lines that had the audience laughing out loud) and has at least one scene that comes at you out of nowhere with a hell of a punch. The ending seals the deal and really left me pretty cold (unfortunately).

So while the ending is pretty unsatisfying, I had a lot of fun for most of the movie. So overall if you’re into this sort of film and you’re a fan of Gerard Butler and/or Jamie Foxx I recommend Law Abiding Citizen.

so much blessings from KP Blogversary Contest

Are you aware that I joined the grandest blogversary contest ever held in blogosphere's history? It's a contest of brain, beauty and talent...ok I'm kind of exaggerating here, please delete "beauty" and place in there "perseverance". The highest pointer will covet $200!

Guess what?

I don't have the same perseverance as Marce Niko who whooped 9169 POINTS and with Sherry who reached 8795 POINTS! But my 7081 POINTS earned me $50 as the 3rd placer of the contest. Not bad at all. I'm glad I was able to support Marce Kaye and Marce Peh until the end of times end of the contest.

Aside from winning $50, I won another $5 for being one of the first 10 contestants who finished with the requirements ahead of all the others, $5 for giving the best review for NOOB- Marce Pehpot's blog for tips and techniques on blogging and earning online and another $5 for being one of the 3 random winners for posting about the contestcelebrate.

Another unexpected blessing is that my review for Online Mommy's Corner pleased the author so she's giving me another $5 tepuktangan!

Aside from the monetary blessings I received from the contest, here are some benefits I gained by just simply joining KP Blogversary Contest:

1. It helps me enhances my reviewing skill (winning as one of the BEST REVIEWS boosts my self-confidence).

2. I could now leave informative and engaging comments.

3. It makes me aware that I should place an "About Me" page and "Categories" widget for the benefits of my visitors and readers.

4. I have changed blogging schedule. Instead of sleeping late at night, I now practiced waking up as early as 3:00 am just to give time to my blog. During the KP's Blogversary Contest I couldn't blog at night because I'll have to put my son to bed and I need to have enough sleep because of my class. Because of the contest, I made a decision to wake up earlier instead and I'm doing that until now sengihnampakgigi.

N-Viro Technology- transforming waste streams into beneficial reuse products

In my early years, I used to observed my grandparents making compost out from organic kitchen and yard waste and manures and turned them into an extremely useful humus-like, soil end product. My grandparents told me that compost feeds the soil microorganisms that help plants stay healthy, adds nutrients to the soil, and helps clay soil drain better and sandy soil retain water. I used to observed Compost educator showing the results of composting to students at a community compost education site, too.

Some Municipalities and private companies do composting too but there's already a problem posed when there's large compost pile. It can spontaneously combust if not properly managed, there's undesirable odor spread and sometimes it could affect our water system. Good thing that there's a new technology developed that uses lime and/or mineral-rich, combustion byproducts to treat, pasteurize, immobilize and convert wastewater sludge and other bio-organic wastes into biomineral agricultural and soil-enrichment products with real market value. Thanks to N-Viro International Corporation . N-Viro International Corporation owns and patented N-Viro process technology that combines biological, chemical and physical reactions to disinfect biosolids. By combining all three reactions, you have many different modes of pathogen kill for added security and stability. The N-VIRO process converts waste to energy to prop up alternative energy.

Check this out for more information:

I visited http://www.nviro.com and I learned that N-Viro process produces N-Viro Soil™ used for agriculture. The American farmers use more N-Viro Soil™ annually than all other lime treated biosolids-derived products combined. N-Viro Soil is also used in landscaping and horticulture, land reclamation, landfill cover material, silviculture, topsoil blending, and as a soil amendment. N-Viro is often blended with materials and bagged for use in home gardens.

I just hope that N-Viro process will be widely known and our municipalities, private companies and agricultural sectors will avail what N-Viro could offer to help up in waste management . The economies of scale involved in the N-Viro process make it the most cost effective option for community based solutions.

we are checking our mental health over here in Thailand

Do you have any idea that Bangkok is undergoing political tension nowadays? Thus, the Department of Mental Health has encouraged all Thais to check their mental health via an easy test of five questions and find ways for stress reduction.

Mental Health Department Director-General, MD Chatri Banchuen, stated that Thai people should beware of their own minds and not fall as victims of stress and tension.

He then recommended all Thais to take a mini-test to see if they are prone to stress leading to violent expressions or not.

The questions ask respondents to see if they are certain with five statements or not. I tried to answer too because I'm living in Thai's land. The statements are as follows:

1) I am always frustrated upon political discussion.

2) I must argue with those having different political opinions.

3) I am engrossed in political issues more than personal ones.

4) I am always afraid of potential violent incidents in Thailand.

5) I always try to persuade others to agree with my political opinions.

Respondents will receive every two points for answering ‘yes’, one point for answering ‘uncertain’, and zero point for answering ‘no’.

Respondents scoring a total of 0-2 points can be interpreted as having normal political emotion and eligible to learn information from all sides.

Respondents with 3-5 points can be interpreted as having a moderate level of political emotion with own political stance, and able to accept different opinions.

However, they are prone to stress if they are too engrossed in politics, and so are advised to relax more.

Respondents with 6-10 points can be interpreted as having a strong level of political emotion and are at risk to high levels of stress. They are suggested to avoid any provoking situation or people and relax more.

Do you know my tendency? I score 0 so there's no problem with metepuktangan.

The director-general stressed that mental health must be given priority during both normal and crisis periods. He said good mental health, serenity, and peace could be created if mental health is well managed.

MD Chatri said any people feeling uncomfortable or requiring mental health assistance can dial 1323 hotline around the clock.

Today is the day...

Today is the last day of our English summer class! celebrate. I'm done with my worksheets too for K-1 and K-2 tepuktangan. I think I need to hold some de-stressing activities to nurture my mind, body and spirit like a movie marathon, play a board game, re-read "the Purpose-Driven Life" and the Bible , go for a long walk around PSU park, playing text twist for an hour , visit Songkhla's Aquarium ,put on a head set and listen to my favorite music and learn to cook something new.

Before I go to school I need to read provillus consumer reviews first because my co-teacher is asking me about it. You know he's been advised to start taking Provillus because of his evident receding hairline. He wanted to know if it really works. I gotta hit Mr. Google first and then prepare for school.

Have a nice day everybodysengihnampakgigi!

For the love of History and General Information

As I mentioned before I love history, general information and international affairs and because of that I was able to join and represent CARAGA Region for the 20th National Super Quiz Bee Grand Finals the 20th National Super Quiz Bee Grand Finals at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Olongapo City. As far as I can remember, Santo Tomas University bagged the first prize and the University of Mindanao, the second. I think we're all 14 contestants, 2 of those are females. I rank 6th and brought home the trophy Best in National Costume and gift products from Clear and Clean. It was one of the memorable events in my life.

Once in a while I'll search the web for new information and I stumbled upon a photo of boot-shaped glass named as a german beer boot. The Beer Boot is a uniquely German invention. In Deutschland they are called Bierstiefel and these boots are popular with tourists in Bavaria and Munich in particular. Beer boots became increasingly popular after being featured in the last beer drinking contest in the movie BeerFest. Since then, beer boots are popular on college campuses throughout the USA. More beer boots are importing and sold in the USA than in Europe and some of the glasswerks have trouble satisfying the American demand.

Do you own one? I think I couldn't own one because I don't drink beer takbole. Isn't it great to learn one new thing everyday? I think once in a while I will share with you what I have learned. Posting them here helps me keeping track of what I've learned so far.

Whaddya think?

The History of the Easter Basket

The tradition of a bountiful Easter basket goes back a long way before our modern consumer driven version. Spring has always been seen as a time of rebirth and blessing and the fertility godddess Eostre (or Oestre) was sometimes depicted carrying a basket of eggs. It was traditional to take baskets of early seedlings to temples to increase the chance of a good harvest.

This ancient custom is reflected in the Catholic tradition of taking the Easter food to mass to be blessed.

The Easter basket was especially popular in the countries of central and Eastern Europe. It appears to have been brought to the USA in the 18th century by the same German settlers who introduced the Easter bunny.

In earlier times when Easter bonnets were at their most popular it was common for the bonnet to be used in place of a basket.

What do teachers make?

with my M.4 (equivalent to 4th year high school) students
in year 2006 at Maha Panya School

A friend of mine sent a nice article through email. I would love to share this with you and to all the TEACHERS out there:

The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?"

To stress his point he said to another guest; "You're a teacher, Barbara . Be honest. What do you make?"
Barbara, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, "You want to know what I make? (She paused for a second, then began...)

"Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could. I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor winner. I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents CAN'T make them sit for 5 without an iPod, Game Cube or movie rental. You want to know what I make? (She paused again and looked at each and every person at the table)

I make kids wonder.

I make them question.
I make them apologize and mean it. I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions.

I teach them to write and then I make them write. Keyboarding ISN'T EVERYTHING. I make them read, read, read.

I make them show all their work in math. They use their God given brain, not the man-made calculator.

I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to know about English while preserving their unique cultural identity. I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe. Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life

( Barbara paused one last time and then continued.) Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, with me knowing money isn't everything, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention because they are ignorant. You want to know what I make? I MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

What do you make Mr. CEO? His jaw dropped, he went silent.

What a profound answer! I'm proud to be a teacher...once againtepuktangan.

applying for a credit card

I had a good chat with my co-teacher about the advantages and disadvantages of credit cards. I deemed it necessary for us to acquire our own credit card mainly for booking our flights online and for emergencies . The idea of purchasing products or services whenever and wherever I want, without ready cash and paying for them at a later date sounds tempting too.

Anyway, I inquire at Bangkok Bank the qualifications and the required document for a credit card application.

Qualifications:
First, you must be at least 20 years of age and have an average monthly income of at least 20,000 Bt. You can combine your salary with other regular earnings such as bonus, commission and overtime pay. You may qualify for all types of Bangkok Bank Gold Cards, If you have an average monthly income of 25,000Bt. We also evaluate criteria such as your credit history when considering credit card applications.

I think I'm qualifiedsengihnampakgigi.

Maybe next week, I'll apply in person at any Bangkok Bank Branch and bring the following documents:

1. Passport and work permit as an expatriate.
2. Proof of my income such as: a payroll slip, a letter certifying my income, a tax withholding slip, or the latest receipt of my annual personal income tax.
3. A copy of my savings or fixed account statement for the past six months from a bank or financial institution.
4. Monthly statements from my current credit cards, if any, for the past three months.

A friend told me that it will take me no more than 15 working days to get my card. If my application will be approved I can can pick up my card at the Bangkok Bank branch nearest us.

I believe that credit cards could be considered the best friends as long as they are used in a right manner and the payments are made on time without getting in debt.

to move again?

We received a letter from Hatyai Water district yesterday that they're going to start our residential water service on the 29th of March. It took almost 2 months to process the start service request (which means almost 2 months too of fetching water from the homeowner's residence which is 5-minutes drive away from us!) ! We talked to the owner of the house that if this month, the water district will not reply to his request, we need to move out from his house! This strategy works and the owner visited the water district everyday and followed up the request. Now, I'm relieved. It means no more moving for us... againcelebrate !

I dreaded the idea of ever moving again. Moving is experienced by everybody but nobody really likes it (except maybe moving to a better place and a bigger house) . Are you with me? Looking for a moving company here in Hatyai is next to impossible ! Moving companies are only available in Bangkok which is 14-hour away from us by bus. In times of moving, I wish I'm in Southern California. Why? They're blessed there to have good movers like Irvine movers, Carlsbad movers, San Diego movers and many more that makes their moving a pleasant experience.

Now that it's settled that we'll stay in this house for three to five years more, I plan to purchase sofa in our living room where we could snug warmly and comfortable, a portable steel kitchen sink and some kitchen storage hardware and kitchen accessories Finally, it's now time to decorate our roomtepuktangan.

Inspector Clouseau is back!

Today's theme at Tuesday Couch Potatoes is about Spy/Espionage. I choose for today's entry a spy film which is in the form of comedy.

If Pink Panther I makes you laugh while the actor tries to solve the mystery of the lost diamond called the "Pink Panther" the Pink Panther II was even better in my own opinion. It was quick, the plot very interesting,I was easily absorbed(I did not realized how the time passed). The presence of Aishwarya Rai enticed me to watch this movie. She's surely making her way through Hollywood.

Read the plot first:

After having been rewarded for solving the mystery of the Pink Panther Diamond, inspector Jacques Clouseau has been assigned to minor tasks by his boss inspector Dreyfus so as not to have him in his way anymore. Unfortunately, the famous pink panther diamond has once again been stolen as have many other artifacts in a series of burglaries around the world. His past success will enable inspector Clouseau to be part of the dream team comprised of the greatest detectives of the affected countries, where he will be able to display his numerous talents across the world (source).

The first thing I notice about this movie is its immense screenplay that makes me relax and enjoy the movie till the end without even turning my face away from the screen. Steve Martin is absolutely superb in his dialogue, body language and gestures which he is naturally gifted with.

If you like some serious comedy along-with for your ticket money, its worth a shot. It's really a good entertainment for the entire family. How good it feels to laugh- that kind of laughter that is rare good, pure and clean. As expected, though Clouseau always appears bumbling and incompetent just like in Pink panther I, but he alone interprets the clues to solve the crimes. How? See it for yourselfgelakguling.

Here are some spy films (comedy, or a good-humored action thriller) I watched and enjoyed them too :
1. Agent Cody Banks- Frankie Muniz, Hilary Duff
2. The Spy Next Door- Jackie Chan
3. Nancy Drew- Emma Roberts
4. Sherlock Holmes- Jude law, Rachel MacAdams
5. Who am I?- Jackie Chan
6. The Tuxedo- Jackie Chan, Jennifer Love Hewitt
7. Code Name: The Cleaner: Cedric the Entertainer, Lucy Liu
8. If Looks Could Kill- Richard Grieco
9. Stormbreaker- Alex Pettyfer
10. The In-Laws- Albert Brooks and Michael Douglas

Happy Birthday Ate Eng!

Happy Birthday, Ate Eng! I'm not there to serenade for you so I sent Corrine May to sing for you a "Happy Birthday" song. Hope you like it:

Don't worry about that extra line
That's creeping up upon your face
It's just a part of nature's way
To say you've grown a little more
Trees have rings and thicker branches
Kids shoes get a little tighter
Every year we're getting closer to who we're gonna be
It's time to celebrate the story of how you've come to be

Happy birthday my friend
Here's to all the years we've shared together
All the fun we've had
You're such a blessing
Such a joy in my life
May the good Lord bless you
And may all your dreams come true

So light a candle on your cake
For every smile you've helped create
For every heart and every soul
You've known to grow a little more
A few more pounds, a little more grey
Don't count the years just count the way
It takes a little time to go from water into wine
Don't ever lose the wonder of the child within your eyes

Happy birthday my friend
Here's to all the years we've shared together
All the fun we've had
It's such a blessing
Such a joy in my life
May the good Lord bless you
And may all your dreams come true

Personal Experience on Trade Shows

I worked as a college instructor before at an agricultural college where we trained entrepreneurs. We usually conducted or joined trade show to let our budding student-entrepreneurs meet many potential customers face-to-face in a brief period of time inexpensively. It is also a way for our college to personally meet possible sponsors and partners and reinforce relationships.

Preparing for our exhibit booth is not an easy task. Though we cannot afford decorative truss , we managed to purchase presentable used trade show displays. We refurbished the damage and replaced missing pieces, we did still come up with an effective, original display for very little cash. We wanted to decorate our floor with logo floor mats but it's way above our budget already.

For the informational items on our booth display, we prepare written materials to distribute such as flyers and information sheets. We displayed items that appeal to multiple senses, including photographs or posters of our product or service (grafted mango, grafted durian, grafted rambutan, seedlings)), music that communicates a mood or a sense of place, and taste samples if we are introducing people to a food product like shrimp and crab kroepeck or polvoron with crab shell powder.

There were times that I'm assigned to look for our exhibit booth. I need to learn as much as I can about the product, service or issue that our booth represents. It's not easy to speak about it to people who are knowledgeable as well as people who are unfamiliar with it. I prepared myself for questions they might ask and prepared answers for them.

Another thing, we purchased inexpensive giveaway items to attract passersby to our booth like pens or key chains to complement our school's image.

I would love to hear any personal experience from you on how you prepare your trade shows.

Why worry when I can pray

There are times that Mr. Worry comes knocking on my door. Whenever I heard him knocking, my mom words never fail to ring in me " stop it on the doorstep or it will move in and take up residence". And I will recite one of my fave verse "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you"(1 Peter 5:7 ).

God cares about the things that I worry about and those things that prey upon my thoughts. I believe that not one nagging, aching, worrisome, gut-wrenching, blood-pressure-raising thought escapes His notice. Why? Because "I'm his personal concern"! He watches over me, my family, my love ones day and night. It's enough to comfort me.

What qualifies as a worry? Anything that robs you of joy, anything you can't change, anything you're not responsible for, anything you're unable to control, anything that torments you, anything that keeps you awake when you should be asleep. All of that '"stuff'" needs to be transferred from my worry list to my prayer list. You can do it too.

The Bible says, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace... "(Philippians 4:6-7 ). I love this verse and I cling on it especially when Mr. Worry is knocking. I give each worry, one by one, to God. It's a heavy load to carry, you know. The more I practise doing this, the more exciting my walk with Him has become. I'm amazed at how easily He handles things that overwhelms me.

My prayers for the day:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for reminding me that you're there to handle my cares, you're able and willing to handle them and I give them to you right now. I believe that when we cast our burden to you, you will sustain me. I want to live a worry-free life. Help me to always remember to keep casting my burdens to you until it becomes as natural as breathing!

In the mighty name of Jesus, my Lord and Savior, AMEN
.

She's just a Bridesmaid

This week's theme of Tuesday Couch Potatoes is about wedding. My first choice would be Father of the Bride but somebody already features this so I'll settle with 27 Dresses- a girl who always a bridesmaid but never as a bride, not yet.

Jane (Katherine Heigl) is idealistic, romantic and completely selfless...a perennial bridal attendant whose own happy ending is nowhere in sight. But when younger sister Tess (Malin Akerman) captures the heart of Janes' big boss with whom she's secretly in love, Jane begins to reexamine her always-a-bridesmaid lifestyle.

The movie is great- it features James Marsden (a fine man who looks good in sneakers) and Katherine Heigl who is a pleasure to watch, as she has the kind of crowd-pleasing, no-nonsense presence that could ground any film, so 27 DRESSES greatly benefits from her comedic skill and charm. While the film features all of the hallmarks of chick flick fare (wacky best friend, dress-up sequence, obnoxious but strangely attractive love interest) the story often veers into territory that may leave some feeling it stretches even the romantic comedy standards for suspension of disbelief. Heigl deserves comparisons to Julia Roberts for her sheer likability, and like PRETTY WOMAN, women will likely watch 27 DRESSES as a pleasant diversion--aware of the fantasy, but still delighted by the attractive lady in the different outfits.

One thing I learned from this movie- Learn to say "NO"!

Manny Pacquiao from Philippines and
Joshua Clottey from Ghana will fight today

Today we can watch and join thousands of other boxing fans and Pacquaio followers to witness Manny Pacquaio's one of the last time episodes of his boxing career. I'm shivering here with excitement as we'll witness how our boxing hero punch his opponent, Joshua Clottey.

That’s it, and you’ll be having Manny Pacquiao beating Joshua Clottey to death, LIVE!

Update: We just arrived from church and when we tried all the web addresses listed above we became frustrated because until now all of those addresses are offline:waaah: ! So my hubby ran off to our friend who got a cable that shows the boxing while I'm here left in the house with our boy gigil.

Another Update: Yahoo!!:scream:. I watched Pacquiao vs Clottey now using the new submitted address of Sopcast Channel and it's working: sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/85856

Thank you Pinoy Teens for the update! I agree with you guyz, patience is a virtue.

Last Update (promise): Before I watched the fight, I'm sure Manny will emerge as the ultimate winner. There's no doubt about that. It's just that my excitement subsided when I saw how mismatched it was! It's like pairing a professional to an amateur! I'm bored to death (on the part of Clottey) that I slept than watching the fight! I wished that Clottey did at least try to fight Manny like a man. rather than always shielding himself. I can't help thinking, he's there for money and not for Manny. I'm disappointed for that fight penat!
